We chatted with Long Tran, owner of Tran’s Kitchen (pictured right). How his passion for cooking and his family background in restaurants inspired him to open his own place, Tran’s Kitchen located in The Eatery at Ormiston Town Centre…

Q: Tell us about your restaurant.

Tran’s Kitchen is a completely authentic Vietnamese dining experience. What we serve our customers is what we eat at home, authentic Vietnamese cooking straight from the heart.

It’s a family restaurant. My family members and I all cook together in the kitchen, sharing our recipes with the Ormiston community.

Everyone at Tran’s Kitchen has a passion for cooking and food, we enjoy what we’re doing so we don’t get tired! It’s our business and our jobs, but it’s also our love.

Q: What is special about Vietnamese Food?

Vietnamese food is fresh, aromatic and very healthy. It’s a balance of all flavours and tastes, there’s lots of herbs in in our cuisine and the whole point of our menu is to serve food that is fast and quick, perfect for lunches and eating on the go.

Q: What are your customers favourite menu item and why do they love it?

Our Pho beef and chicken, this is our signature beef and chicken noodle soup.

We use meat bones cooked for at least 12 hours with spices to create the stock, it’s pretty unique to our restaurant and is the traditional Vietnamese way of creating Pho rather than from broth powders.

Customers love the authenticity of our food, our flavours are fresh, aromatic and the staff are friendly.

Q: What is important to your business?

Our customers are the most important part of Tran’s Kitchen. The local Ormiston community has been extraordinary in helping us and supporting our business.

It’s also important to us that we’re serving authentic food. All the recipes on our menu are family recipes that you’ll find us eating at home.

Q: Why did you choose Ormiston Town Centre?

We are longtime residents and locals of Ormiston, we’ve been here for 7 years. There are a lot of people moving to Ormiston and we’ve seen the suburb grow and evolve, developing each day.

We’ve all been waiting for a Centre like this, so when I heard it was being built I thought I would take the opportunity and open my own restaurant here. It’s such a convenient location, even on my days off I still visit!
